John Howard Cellars of Distinction owns and operates 120 acres of vinifera vineyard and produces 30,000 cases of Premium wines featuring the Megalomaniac and Homegrown brands.
The Sous Terre Vineyard (96 acres) located in the village of Vineland is the single largest deeded piece of land on the Niagara Escarpment and features the highest vantage point between Milton Ontario and Niagara Falls. The adjacent Home Vineyard is the threshold for Reserve Red wines notably Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. All vintages are vinified and aged in new French Oak Barrels in our Underground Cellar for a minimum of 24 months.
As well, John Howard Cellars holds a 35% shareholding in two Grand Cru Chateaux’s in the St. Emilion appellation of Bordeaux France (Chateau La Confession and Chateau Haut Pontet). Chateau La Confession received a 93/95 from Robert Parker for the 2010 vintage.
Sebastien Jacquey is the consulting Wine-Maker for all varietals and acts as liaison to our 2 sister properties in St. Emilion, Bordeaux, France.
